St. Mercurius the Soldier Biography
St. Mercurius the Soldier was the son of a Scythian officer in the Imperial Roman army. He later became a soldier in the same army and distinguished himself during the defence of the City of Rome. He was ordered to sacrifice to an idol during the persecutions of Decius and when he refused he was killed.
